Is NGO Darpan Mandatory?

In order to get the funds or grants from the government, an NGO or VO needs to register themselves on the NGO Darpan portal to establish a transparent harmony between the two bodies. “Darpan” means mirror, and registering the NGO will lay out the past and undergoing records of the NGO crystal clear with the key government body.

Advantages Of NGO Darpan Registration

  • Mandatory in order to get Funding from Government –

By registering with the NGO Darpan, NGOs and VOs share their databases and initial records with the government bodies. In turn, it validates them to obtain funds and contribute to the government operations which improves their credibility.

  • Ease in availing grants –

Post-registration on the Darpan Portal, NGOs and VOs can easily access the list of Government Ministries/Departments/Bodies that are currently (at that moment) offering grants and funds.

  • Ease of application filling –

Registration on the NGO Darpan eases out the activity of applying for procuring funds. Unlike the traditional method, the applications and documentation required in order to obtain the funding are much easier and smoother as they can be filled online.

  • Tracking application status –
